MS, MFT (LMFT5508)

I have been a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1971, with a private practice in Petaluma for 22 years, working with children, adults and couples, as well as leading several women’s therapy/support groups. I also taught several courses in Women’s Awareness at Santa Rosa Junior College, as well as “Play Therapy” at Sonoma State University.

In 1993 my husband and I bought a 47-foot sailboat, sold our home in Penngrove and headed out the Golden Gate Bridge in search of new adventures. We spent ten glorious years living on the sea, meeting new friends and visiting exciting countries. We learned about living life to the fullest, a philosophy that I try to incorporate into my therapeutic approach.

When our two daughters started having families of their own we knew it was time to return to land. We sold our boat and returned to California in June 2002, to settle down in Pescadero with our daughter and her family, living very much as an extended family. In September 2003 I started a new private practice in Half Moon Bay.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples dealing with personal, marital/relationship and parenting issues. I help them resolve their anger and communication issues, leading to healthier and more intimate relationships. I enjoy leading women’s and parents’ therapy/support groups and am open to forming one in Half Moon Bay.

I have also had training in hypnotherapy and EMDR. My therapy is in-depth, dealing with the emotional connections between childhood and adulthood patterns that keep us from enjoying our lives to the fullest. I try to see past the stories to help clients see themselves and the unhealthy patterns that keep them from enjoying their lives. I try to be direct and clear, as well as compassionate and supportive.

Therapy is a slow and difficult process, but one that I totally support in helping clients make lifelong changes. Through therapy comes the deep healing leading to a more fulfilling life.
